“President Trump on
Monday officially recognized ‘the plain truth that Israel’s
capital is Jerusalem,’ as his administration celebrated the
opening of a new U.S. Embassy in the Holy City on the 70th
anniversary of Israel’s founding,” Gabby Morrongiello
writes for the Washington Examiner.
“The U.S. will
always be a great friend of Israel and a partner in the cause
of freedom and peace. We extend a hand in friendship to Israel,
the Palestinians, and to all of their neighbors. May there be
peace,” the President said in a video address.

In The
Jerusalem Post, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) argues that
President Trump made a courageous decision when he recognized
Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and announced that the U.S.
Embassy would be moved there. “Presidents of both parties had
made the same promise, and repeatedly failed to follow through.
Finally, 70 years later, America is at last recognizing
Israel’s true capital,” he writes.

“Bipartisanship isn’t
dead: The House Judiciary Committee last week passed a bill
offering ex-felons a ‘second chance,’ and it stands a
decent chance of becoming law,” the New
York Post Editorial Board writes. The First Step Act,
backed by Senior Advisor to the President Jared Kushner, “aims
to reduce recidivism and lower the prison population.”

Steven Cash, former
Chief Counsel to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and former CIA
Operations Officer, writes in The
Hill
that as “the first woman, and the first career
intelligence professional since Director William Casey to lead
the CIA, [Gina] Haspel promises to be an excellent, apolitical
and talented leader. She should be confirmed.”

“As Hamas continues to
exploit protests to foment violence against Israel, finding a
way to help the people of Gaza in any meaningful way becomes
more and more challenging,” President Trump’s Special
Representative for International Negotiations, Jason
Greenblatt, writes in The
Jerusalem Post. “All parties interested in bringing
change to Gaza need to face the reality that Hamas has failed
its own people.”
