America's industrial structure is a highly service-centered, post-industrial society, with tertiary industry accounting for approximately 80% of GDP. Secondary industry accounts for only about 20%.

Secondary industry, including manufacturing, accounts for approximately 20%, while primary industry, such as agriculture, accounts for only about 1%.
